Get to Know Pastor Luka Ilic
Luka was born and spent his childhood in Karlovac, Croatia. He studied theology in Belgium (B.A.) and Holland, where he earned an M.Div and an M.Th at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with a thesis on 16th-century Lutheran reformer Matthias Flacius Illyricus (1520 – 1575). He is currently pursuing his PhD in historical theology at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.
He was ordained in 2001 and served as a pastor in Belgrade, Serbia before coming to Ascension in October 2006. His wife Angela is from Budapest, Hungary and is a PhD student in religion at Temple University. While preaching and teaching are among Luka’s strengths, he also enjoys time spent in prayer and conversation with people. He likes playing tennis and table tennis, swimming, watching musicals, reading and traveling (especially when he gets to use some of the many languages he knows).
